To perform an upgrade, download and install the board support package for your device. We recommend that you use a USB flash drive for the update.
You can download the ZIP file from the Panasonic InfoHub .
The update takes approximately 5 minutes. It will reset all settings and completely clear the device. Be sure to make a backup of your device settings and your HMWIN Studio project data.
Depending on your BSP version, HMWIN Studio 4.0 or 4.5 is required:
For BSP version 1.3 or higher, HMWIN Studio 4.5 or higher is required.
For BSP versions lower than 1.3, HMWIN Studio 4.0 or lower is required.
Unless you use the auto-update method with a USB flash drive, all data on the FP-I4C unit is fully erased when updating from version 1.0.xxx to 1.3.xxx or higher. When updating from version 1.0.xxx to 1.3.xxx or higher, all data on the device is fully erased. Following the installation, you must transfer the HMWIN Studio project data with the appropriate version of HMWIN Studio and reconfigure the communication and application settings (see below "After installation"). If your old password is considered insecure by the password rules of the new version, you need to set a new password.
Extract the files from the BSP ZIP file into an empty folder.
Make a backup of your device settings and your HMWIN Studio project data.
The format of the USB flash drive must be FAT32.
Go to Autorun scripts from external storage is activated.
and make sureCopy the contents of autoupdate.zip
to an empty USB flash drive.
Go to the folder /src
and open the file config in a text editor to edit the line CFG_ADMIN_PASSWORD="admin".
Change “admin” to your password of the device.
Connect the USB flash drive to your device and wait until the update process is completed.
The unit’s LEDs help you monitor the process:
When the USB flash drive is connected, USR starts blinking (200ms on and 200ms off) for the next 5 minutes) and MEM starts flashing spontaneously.
When the process completed successfully, USR changes to static on.
In case of error, USR changes to blink more slowly (2s on and 500ms off). Remove the flash drive and connect it to your PC to read the log file stored in the device.
After completion or in case of error, reboot the power-cycle of the device.
Note that this process resets the system settings including the network settings to factory settings. Therefore, you may be required to update the IP address of your device (especially if a fixed IP address is used). Make sure the computer is in the same network as your device.
Go to Board tab.
and select theClick Folder to select the folder on your PC containing the unzipped files.
All available components are displayed in the table. You can deactivate unneeded components.
Select Download to transfer the components to the device.
You have now successfully installed the desired version.
Open your browser and enter the URL https://[IP address]/machine_config
.
Replace [IP address]
with the IP address of your device.
Go to Management.
To install a component, expand it, select Update, drag the files into your browser, and follow the instructions.
Install the components in the following order: Bootloader (if available in the ZIP file) → Config OS → Main OS
For a complete reset, you must then perform the following steps:
Go to Restore.
and selectAs this will reset the network settings to the default settings, the connection could be lost after transmission is completed.
Go to Clear to remove the project data.
and selectDo not use this method when updating from version 1.0.xxx to version 1.3.xxx or higher because all data on the device will be erased, including the network settings.
For all other updates, you can simply connect to your FP-I4C unit via Corvina and follow the update instructions using a Web browser.
After updating the BSP from version 1.0.xxx to version 1.3.xxx or higher, you may need to set a new password. This is the case if your old password is considered insecure by the password rules of the new version.
When updating in HMWIN Studio, a Web browser, or Corvina, all data including the application settings is erased from the FP-I4C unit. To reinstall the application settings, you must download the firmware update files version 1.4.5.0 or higher. The update files can be downloaded from the Panasonic InfoHub .
Extract the file package.zip from the firmware update file (the .md5 file is not needed).
Open your browser and enter the URL https://[IP address]/machine_config
.
Replace [IP address] with the IP address of your device.
Go to System App Management.
and selectClick on Install/Update+ and select the file package.zip.
The application settings are now installed. The FP-I4C unit reboots automatically after the installation.
