Learn how to read from and write to expansion units connected to an FP-I4C unit and visualize them on a Web page.
All digital and analog expansion units of the FP0R series are supported. Up to three expansion units can be connected to one FP-I4C unit.
In this example application, a digital I/O unit and an analog I/O unit are connected to the FP-I4C unit. We will read the I/O values and the contents of special system registers storing additional information, such as the device temperature, and visualize them on a Web page using HMWIN Studio.
This feature is particularly useful for reading input values during data logging. You can also connect binary outputs, but they should not be used for control purposes. There are no safety mechanisms in place, and the outputs may be unintentionally activated during a restart.
Any Modbus TCP client can be used to read the expansion units and special system registers.
The digital I/O unit FP0RE32P (16 digital inputs + 16 digital outputs) and the analog I/O unit FP0RRA42 (4 analog inputs + 2 analog outputs) are connected to the FP-I4C unit.
HMWIN Studio is used to create a visualization of the input and output values.
