Use this setting to connect a PLC via the USB port or COM port. The USB port is used as virtual serial port and gets a separate COM port number.
- The Communication settings dialog appears. 
- Select COM (USB) under Connection type
- Specify the following communication parameters of your computer:- PortAll available COM devices from Windows device manager are listed here. Select the port connected to the desired PLC. 
- Baud rateDepending on the PLC, select a baud rate between 1200 and 115200bit/s for communication between PLC and PC. Default setting: 9600 bit/s 
- Data lengthSelect either 7 or 8 bits. Default setting: 8 bits 
- Stop bitsSelect either 1 or 2 bits. Default setting: 1 bit 
- ParitySelect from None, Odd or Even. Default setting: Odd 
- TimeoutSet a timeout from 0 to 60s to connect to the PLC. Default setting: 5s 
- Automatic communication settingsThe software will automatically find matching communication settings. NOTE Disabled parameters will be excluded from automatic configuration. Default setting: all check boxes are activated
