Security settings

Online > Security settings opens a dialog which allows you to protect your PLC and and log in and out of the PLC.

Status information

The status information shows the status of the PLC password protection.

Upload protection

When upload protection is enabled, you cannot:

You can disable this function in Control FPWIN Pro7. However, all programs, system registers and password information will be deleted!

If upload protection is enabled, you can edit files on the PLC while online using Control FPWIN Pro7. However, programs will be corrupted if the program in FPWIN Pro and the program on the PLC are not identical.

PLC protection

You can set a new password or change an existing one. The rules for passwords (length, capitals, numbers) differ depending on the PLC types. If the password does not conform to the rules, a red 'X' symbol appears and the password is not accepted. Watch the tool tip for the information about the rules, i.e. which characters can be used in a password.

  • Be sure to memorize your password. Without the password, you will not be able to read programs on password-protected PLCs. The password retry count displays how many tries are left to enter the correct password. After three invalid password entries, turn the power of the PLC off and on again to get three new tries. For FP0H and FP-XH (Ethernet types), you need to wait for an increasingly longer period of time before you can try again (10 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour).

  • If you have forgotten your password, our support team will not be able to reset it for you.

  • If you are not logged in, Clear password will erase not only the password but also the program and parameters stored in the PLC's comment memory. This procedure may take a very long time.
