Monitor values

With Monitor > Monitor values or the variables and addresses used for each POU body can be monitored in the programming window.

All variables visible in the editor are automatically registered for monitoring and the values of their variables displayed. The monitoring is automatically terminated as soon as you leave the online mode. You can end it with Monitor > Monitor values to remove the check mark or click again.

  1. Open POU body by double-clicking, or activate programming window if already open
  2. Monitor > Monitor values or

    The current values of the variables are displayed.

    While monitoring, the following applies to contacts:

    • The monitoring rectangle indicates the switching status of the contact. If it is filled in, the contact is closed; if it is empty, the contact is open.

    • The color of the variable name indicates the current value. If its color is that selected under monitoring, this means TRUE; if the color is that selected for text, this means FALSE.

    The following applies to coils:

    • The color in the monitoring rectangle and the color of the variable name indicate the current value.

    The following applies to input and output variables:

    • The current value is displayed right next to the variable name.

    • The display of the variable values is identical in the function block diagram and the ladder diagram.

    In the sequential function chart editor the active step is marked in color. By clicking on a transition you can call up and monitor the associated program with Tools > Zoom into.
