Settings for Trace

  1. Select PLC > Data recording from the project navigator
    The Data recording window is displayed.
  2. Select New to insert a new configuration
  3. Set Application to Trace

    The following items are set in the LOG tab.

    • General

      All ASCII characters in the range from 0x20 to 0x7E can be used.

      Set a file name
    • Trace start

      Item

      Description
      Start when changing to RUN mode

      Activate/deactivate

      Select a condition to start data recording.

      • Activated: Data recording starts when changing to the RUN mode.

      • Deactivated: Data recording is started or stopped by the operation of programming tool or the FP_LOGTRACE_START/FP_LOGTRACE_STOP instructions in user programs.
      Sampling trigger Bit

      • Select this option if the sampling should be triggered by a bit. Enter a global variable or select a system variable to specify the trigger bit.

      • Trace operation is executed when the condition is met at the end of a scan.
      Instruction (FP_LOGTRACE_SAMPLE)

      Select this option if the sampling should be triggered when the instruction FP_LOGTRACE_SAMPLEis executed.
      Interval

      • Select this option if the sampling should be executed after a specified time interval has passed.

      • Enter the time interval. Available time units are ms, s, min, h.

      • When the unit is s or min, adjust to trigger sampling at 0min. 0s. of every hour. When the unit is h, adjust to trigger sampling at 00:00:00 of every day.

    • Trace stop

      Stop trigger

      Bit/Buffer full

      • Bit: Select this option if the sampling should be stopped by a bit. Enter an address or select a variable from the Variables pane, e.g. sys_bIsLog0Done.

      • Buffer full:

        Select this option if the sampling should be stopped when the buffer is full. The buffer size is specified in the General section of the dialog.
      Samples after stop trigger

      Specify the number of samplings after the detection of stop trigger.
Tip

Select the Save buffer to file on SD card check box if you want to save the buffer contents after the trace function has been stopped.
