Assigning variables

To assign variables, you can either select a variable from the Variables pane or enter the name of a variable into the name box.

Selecting variables from the Variables pane

  1. Select name box
  2. Press <F2>
    The Variables pane is opened.
  3. Use the sorting and filter settings to expedite programming
  4. Double-click selected variable or select Insert variable from the context menu

    The variable is inserted into the current name box in the POU body.

  5. Press <Tab> to select the next name box

Entering the name of a variable into the name box

  1. Select name box
  2. Enter variable name
  3. <Return>

    If the variable does not exist, you must create a new variable. Depending on the setting of Declare new identifiers under Extras > Options > Program options > Editors > LD/FBD editor, the Create new variable dialog automatically opens.

  4. Press <Tab> to select the next name box
Tip

All elements recently used are added to a list. Press<Ctrl>+<Shift>+<v> in the programming window to display this list. The contents of the list may vary depending on the programming context.
