Sequential Function Chart (SFC)

SFC programming can be used to easily structure complex programs. Tasks are subdivided into subtasks and these again are divided into steps. A task is processed step by step. Transitions between two steps act as conditional jumps, which activate the next step depending on their TRUE or FALSE status. Each step can be associated with one or more actions.

NOTE
  • Always separate steps by a transition.

  • Always separate transitions by a step.

When programming with the SFC editor, not only the POUs but all actions and transitions are listed in the navigator under Actions.

  1.  (1) Initial step
  2.  (2) Transition
  3.  (3) Step
  4.  (4) Divergence
  5.  (5) Convergence
  6.  (6) Final step
