Sampling trace

Sampling in trace enables you to set variables and parameters (sampling time, trigger conditions, zero).

Before you can start the sampling trace, you must specify the variables to be sampled, when the sampling procedure should start and the resolution.

  1. Online > Online mode

PLC must be in RUN mode.

  2. Monitor > Time line chart > Sampling Trace

Use the icons in the toolbar or the commands in the context menu to insert and to delete variables.

Use Open... to reload a previously stored file.

  3. Double-click a variable path
  4. Double-click the desired variable
  5. OK
  6. Set parameters under Tools > Sampling trace parameters...

Now you can make the following settings:

    • Sampling mode

The values of the bit or word channels can be recorded in two ways:

      • per scan: Insert the instruction F155_SMPL into your program at the position where you want to transfer the sampling values into the sampling memory.

      • per time interval: Enter the scan time at which the variable values are to be recorded. The time axes of the Sampling trace window are scaled in ms.

    • Sampling scale

      • Total number: number of sampling values, a maximum of 1000.

      • Times after trigger

  7. OK
    Example

    Total number = 1000, times after trigger = 800

This means that if the trigger is set in the controller, the last 200 values before the trigger and another 800 values after the trigger are recorded.

  8. Use Tools > Download parameters to download the parameter settings to the PLC
  9. Open the Data recording window with Monitor > Special flags and registers > Data recording
  10. Activate the sampling trace function with Tools > Activate
  11. Trigger data recording

There are two ways of setting the trigger point from which recording starts:

    • Setting the trigger manually with Tools > Trigger.

    • Setting the trigger per PLC program using F156_STRG.

  12. Use Tools > Upload Values to upload the values for display in a time chart
  13. Use Tools > Save as to save the recorded data in a file
NOTE
  • Instead of the variable name, you can also enter the physical address (e.g. DT0, %MW5.0).

  • The axes are automatically scaled.

You can select up to 16 Boolean variables and three 16-bit variables. The selected variables can also be deleted from the list.Once you have inserted all of the variables, specify the parameters for sampling trace. The IEC 61131-3 addresses of symbolic names can be seen in the data monitor window while monitoring.
